Boxer head

Description

Heres a few pics of my finished Boxer head mask. Not my best collage though I thought it did a good job at showing him. I really love how he turned out especially the ears. Right now I'm having second thoughts about selling him since he's pretty much my first completed head. I'm working on the rest of the partial right now maybe by the time I'm done I'll figure it out.
It features a DVC green plastic nose
Fimo teeth
Follow-me eyes
A partially moving jaw with the classic Boxer underbite
The ears are weighted so they're extremely floppy.I'll try to get a video up of them soon
I think I might put a fan in it since I left space for it when I made it. The air circulation is good though.
I'm not very happy with the shave though all I had were scissors though it does add to the brindle boxer look. The fur cover is almost completely hand sewn except for the ears and part of the mouth.
I'd love some feedback on him

PS if you squint he looks like Lee Majors doing his six million dollar man expression

I think the eyes are rather nice for a first attempt, eyes are sort of a deal breaker for masks in my opinion :) But it's good that you sewed most of the fur, though maybe you could work on some of the symmetry for the markings, even if going for an expression of some kind. Looking at the foam work, you have good proportions but there are some symmetry issues that could be worked on, and it really pays to smooth out the shapes and fill in any large gaps as they will still show after furring. As for the fur, how did you cut it out and trim it down? If you use scissors to cut out fur pieces, it tends to chop the ends off and look a bit tattered. Use an X-acto knife instead!

The nose is a tad jarring, not so much for the color but for the angle of it. I see a lot of people who use DVC toony noses, but a lot tend to angle them wayyy down, and they're really designed to be pointed up, like so farisbatwan.deviantart.com/art… If you maybe re-install the nose after adding some foam + fur underneath, it would look much better ^__^

The ears have an okay shape to them, a little thin, but workable. But, the positioning is too much in the middle, whereas ears start at the outer eye and fall off to the side and flop *forward* www.boxerrescue.com/images/bus…

Overall, I think it's a good start, but it *will* take probably a few more heads before they are sell-able quality :) As it did for the rest of us >__<

Hope this helps, and I disagree with Miukii as far as buying other maker's bases to fur and re-sell, you'll never get anywhere riding off the skills of other makers instead of building your own first.
